Installing Tosca-Isight 2016 to run off the Central License Server

Requirements

This installation procedure is only authorized for MIT student/faculty/staff users. It requires a 64 bit Windows or Linux operating system.

Note:

• You will not need to register with Simulia or download anything from their web site.
• You will not need to update the annual license file, this is handled on the server.
• Running Tosca or Isight this way requires that you maintain network connectivity, and requires use of the MIT VPN if you are off the MIT campus.

This documentation and software is licensed under an academic license agreement between MIT and Dassault Systemes Simulia Corp. It may be used only by MIT students, faculty and staff (Authorized Users) for non-profit academic research and teaching. The right to use the materials for any other purpose, including commercial purposes, is expressly prohibited. Authorized Users must stop using the software and documentation and delete it (and any accompanying license key) from any non MIT-owned computers they have installed it on when they cease to be affiliated with MIT. When new releases becomes available, we will change the version reference for the installer and update the download link for the new release. You can revisit this page to look for the update, and install the new version by repeating the installation steps below. The vendor typically issues several update releases each year.

You will need to have a CFD solver installed on or accessible through your computer in order to be able to use Tosca Fluid.

Windows installation

Please note that installation of all components will require about 1.6 Gb temporarily/340 Mb permanently for the documentation, and 4.2 Gb temporarily/2.0 Gb permanently for the programs.

Windows documentation installation

1. Unzip abaqus_2016_doc.zip in a temporary location (this is the same installation archive used for Abaqus documentation).
2. Run setup.exe in the AM_DOC_SIM_EstPrd.AllOS\1\DOC_SIMULIA_Isight_Tosca\1 folder.
3. If a Windows Firewall alert pops up, set it to allow internet access for DSYInsSetupGUI.
4. Select an installation folder (the default is preferred), click Next.
5. Select all components, click Next.
6. Review the installation information, click Install, then Close.

The documentation entry point is
C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\B418doc\English\DSSIMULIA_Established.htm
if you used the default installation folder.

Windows Tosca program installation

If you intend to use the Abaqus solvers or Abaqus/CAE with Tosca you should install Abaqus first.

1. Unzip isight-tosca_2016.zip in a temporary location.
2. Run setup.exe in the AM_SIM_Abaqus_Extend.AllOS\2\SIMULIA_Tosca\Windows64\1 folder, click Next.
3. If a Windows Firewall alert pops up, set it to allow internet access for DSYInsSetupGUI.
4. Select the installation folder (the default is preferred), click Next.
5. Select the desired installation components (Fluid, Structure), click Next.

Tosca Structure

1. Select the desired Structure interface(s), click Next.
2. If using the Abaqus interface, the Windows example will have the correct path if you used the default at installation (there are some obvious typos in the example). Other interfaces need to be selected similarly. Select the appropriate interface(s), click Next.
3. Select the default Tosca Structure solver interface, click Next.
4. If running Tosca within Abaqus CAE, select the custom_v6.env file. The Windows example will have the correct path if you used the default at installation (there are some obvious typos in the example). Click Next.
5. Make the appropriate selection for an existing ANSA installation, click Next.
6. Select SIMULIA FLEXnet for license server type and enter this in the License Server 1 dialog (leave the other entries blank), click Next.
7. Enter the Tosca documentation URL. If you installed to the default location this is
   

   file:///C:/Program Files/Dassault Systemes/B418doc/English/DSSIMULIA_Established.htm
   

   and click Next.

   There may be a bug in the documentation launcher in the Tosca GUI that prevents it from being launched; you can open it manually in a browser by starting from the entry point above.

8. Select desired shortcut icons, click Next.
9. Review the installation selections, click Install followed by Close.

Tosca Fluid

1. Select the desired Fluid interface(s), click Next.
2. Select path to chosen interface(s), click Next.
3. Select the default Tosca Fluid solver interface, click Next.
4. Select a Tosca Fluid scratch directory, click Next.
5. Select SIMULIA FLEXnet for license server type and enter this in the License Server 1 dialog (leave the other entries blank), click Next.
6. Select desired shortcut icons, click Next.
7. Review installation selections, click Install followed by Close.

Windows Isight program installation

Please note that installation will require about 3.8 Gb temporarily/1.5 Gb permanently.

1. Unzip isight-tosca_2016.zip in a temporary location if you haven't already done this.
2. Run setup.exe in the AM_SIM_Abaqus_Extend.AllOS\2\SIMULIA_Isight\Windows64\1 folder, click Next.
3. Select the installation folder (the default is preferred), click Next.
4. Select the desired installation components, click Next.
5. Optionally select using a SEE based on a TomEE application server, click Next.
6. Configure or skip the SEE, click Next.
7. Select FlexNet License Server, click Next.
8. Enter the information located here in the License Server Name dialog and here in the License Server Port Number dialog (leave the other entries blank), click Next.
9. Select the path to the Isight documentation (if you installed it to the default location you can use the Windows example), click Next.
10. Review installation selections, click Install followed by Close.

Linux installation

Please note that installation of all components will require about 1.6 Gb temporarily/340 Mb permanently for the documentation, and 5.1 Gb temporarily/2.3 Gb permanently for the programs.

Linux documentation installation

Linux Tosca program installation

The Tosca Structure GUI launch command is ToscaStructureGui.sh. If you opted for the default install location, it will be in the /usr/SIMULIA/Tosca/2016/Linux_a64/code/command directory.

Tosca Fluid

1. Select the desired Fluid interface(s), click Next.
2. Select path to chosen interface(s), click Next.
3. Select the default Tosca Fluid solver interface, click Next.
4. Select a Tosca Fluid scratch directory, click Next.
5. Select SIMULIA FLEXnet for license server type and enter this in the License Server 1 dialog (leave the other entries blank), click Next.
6. Review installation selections, click Install followed by Close.

The Tosca Fluid GUI launch command is ToscaFluidGui.sh. If you opted for the default install location, it will be in the /usr/SIMULIA/Tosca/2016/Linux_a64/code/command directory.

Linux Isight program installation

Please note that installation will require about 4.1 Gb temporarily/1.3 Gb permanently.

1. Unzip isight-tosca_2016.zip in a temporary location if you haven't already done this.
2. Run StartGUI.sh in the AM_SIM_Abaqus_Extend.AllOS/2/SIMULIA_Isight/Linux64/1 directory, click Next.
3. Select the installation directory (the default is preferred), click Next.
4. Select the desired installation components, click Next.
5. Optionally select using a SEE based on a TomEE application server, click Next.
6. Configure or skip the SEE, click Next.
7. Select FlexNet License Server, click Next.
8. Enter the information located here in the License Server Name dialog and here in the License Server Port Number dialog (leave the other entries blank), click Next.
9. Select the path to the Isight documentation (if you installed it to the default location you can use the Linux example), click Next.
10. Review installation selections, click Install followed by Close.

The Isight GUI launch command is gateway. If you opted for the default install location, it will be in the /usr/SIMULIA/Isight/2016/Linux_a64/code/command directory.
