W4, Direct Deposit, ePaystubs errors before start date
Question
I am a graduate student at the beginning of the semester, trying to access the Payroll Direct Deposit and Tax Withholding screens of Atlas.
For the Direct Deposit screen, I get:
The application failed due to an unknown error
For the W4 screen, I get:
edu.mit.mortar.exception.SystemException: com.sap.bapi.mapper.exception.BAPIException: com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (104) RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE: User xxxxxx has no RFC authorization for function group Z_HR_ESS_W4
For ePaystubs, I get:
com.sap.bapi.mapper.exception.BAPIException: com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (104) RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE: User xxxxxx has no RFC authorization for function group Z_HR_ESS_PAYSTUB
What do these error messages mean?
Answer
The most likely reason for these error messages is that the employment position has not yet been entered into the system, or that the official start date for the position is still in the future.
The HR/Payroll Service Center – 617-253-4255, hrpayservicecenter@mit.edu – will be able to check to see if the position is showing up the records, and if so, the start date for the position. Their phone hours are M-F, 8:30 to 5:00.
