Create a Record for Family Members Overview

This documentation refers to the Atlas Online Gateway.
You can access Atlas at https://atlas.mit.edu/

If you are choosing coverage that includes dependents, each family member (spouse, child, domestic partner / spousal equivalent, or child of a domestic partner / spousal equivalent) you are enrolling must have a record in the system. From this page, you can review the information for family members already in the system or add family members you want to enroll for the first time. Adding family members requires that you provide documentation such as birth or marriage certificates. For a divorced spouse, contact the MIT Benefits Office.

  1. Select the type of family member for whom you are creating a record.
  2. If no record exists, click Create New. If there is an existing record, it will be displayed along with a View button.
Note: You cannot change existing records. Contact the Benefits Office to request a change.
Result: You will then go to the "Create a New Record for a Family Member" page to enter the new record or to the "Display a Record for a Family Member" to view the existing record.
  3. After you have created and reviewed the necessary records, click Continue.
